Lavenham Market Cross

After many visits to Lavenham Suffolk I have managed to get a photograph of  the Market Cross without the obligatory parked car in front of it or beside it. Image taken with Canon tilt and shift 24mm lens.

This historic medieval wool town prospered during 15th and 16th Century and was famous for Lavenham blue broadcloth. The town is full of half timbered houses and is a main tourist place. Well worth a visit.

Dedham Vale Autumn Colours and Mists

Dedham Vale looking towards Dedham Village and St Mary's Church. Not enough colour in the leaves yet so I will return. I was lucky with the cattle walking into the frame.

Yellowhammers UK Wild Birds

A first for my garden a flock of nine Yellowhammers arrived yesterday. Seven birds have returned today and have been around all day. I have put wild bird seed down. Light snow has been falling. Brightened up my day ! This bird is on the "Red List" of the RSPB due to its recent decline.

Out for a Morning stroll in Colchester Essex Castle Park on Mothering Sunday. With a Canon 5D and a 17 to 40mm f4 lens. Daffodil blooms more sparsely spread than in previous years. The Daffodil is also known as the Lent lily.

Colchester claims to be Britain's Oldest Recorded Town. The Romans called it Camulodunum. Boudicca (Boadicea AD60 or 61) the Queen of the Iceni defeated the Romans here and burnt the temple dedicated to Claudius the Roman Emperor. The Normans built this Castle on top of the remains of the temple between 1069 and 1076. The Castle contains an excellent award winning Museum which is great for kids.
